Anahit Mekhitarian, a lyrical coloratura soprano, was born in Echmiadzin, Armenia.
She graduated from the Piano Department of Romanos Melikyan Conservatory in Yerevan with Honors. After she graduated from Vocal Department of Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory with Honors. Anahit Mekhitarian also received her Master's Degree in singing
Mrs Anahit Mekhitarian is the winner of three most prestigious international contests mentioned below.
In November 1990, at the 28th International Francesco Vinas singing contest in Barcelona, Spain, with famous opera singer Magda Oliviero as the president of the judging panel, Anahit Mekhitarian won the first prize, Grand Prix and the Golden Medal. She was also granted a special Catalonia State Award.
Less than a year later, in October 1991, Mrs Mekhitarian's great talent was once again recognized, when she was awarded the first prize, Grand Prix and the Golden Medal at the 23rd Vincenzo Bellini International Competition in Sicily, Italy. Dame Joan Sutherland, the president of the judging panel, personally presented her the award.
Mrs Anahit Mekhitarian's third brilliant victory came in September 1996, when she won the first prize, Grand Prix at the 6th Gayarre Carreras International singing contest in Pamplona, Spain.
Jose Carreras, the honorable president of the jury of the contest personally handed her the prize. Jose Carreras considered that Anahit was an exceptional singer and that she would certainly shine with her talent at the world’s best stages.
Thus, there is an exceptionally remarkable event in the Armenian opera with the help of Anahit Mekhitarian being Trice Gold Medal and Trice Grand Prix holder in the most prestigious international contests.
Anahit Mekhitarian is the principal soloist at the National Opera and Ballet Theater of Armenia in Yerevan.
In 2003 Anahit Mekhitarian was conferred the title of Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia.
She has performed around the world at the very best stages. Anahit Mekhitarian has appeared at the Gayarre Opera Theater ("Lucia di Lammermoor"), in Merida's famous "Festival de Teatro Clasico" (Paolina "Poliuto") in Seville and Teatro Colon in La Coruna (Desdemona "Otello"), at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles (Anush "Anush"), at the Bolshoy Theater in Moscow (Norma "Norma"). Througout her unparalleled course of career, Anahit Mekhitarian has cooperated with the RTVE Symphonic Orchestra of Madrid, Pablo Sarasate Symphonic Orchestra, Malmo Symphonic Orchestra, Russian National Symphonic Orchestra, as well as cooperated with such notable conductors as Miquel Ortega, Gomes Martines, Gianandrea Noseda, Vladimir Spivakov etc.
In 2009 she had GALA CONCERT devoted to 75th Anniversary of National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet in Yerevan with the Spanish famous conductor Miquel Ortega.
